When I was a little child I saw on my mother’s art magazine pictures of the automatons from the national museum in Monte Carlo. In particular I remember pictures of an automaton that could play piano (although now I suppose the automaton probably just moved its hands over the keyboard, and the music was generated through a player piano like the harpist of the video below).
